With the modern technological advancements that you experience everyday, I'm sure even you would be thinking of changing your old but reliable digital camera with a new one. But you too would be there to face much difficulty as you would not be sure which ones to choose form the numerous brands, sizes, models and features to choose from. You might not be well aware of the best available features to choose from as your old model hasn't really had any of those.
Therefore it would be healthy to know the following things to consider when buying a digital camera. On most stores these days you would come across thousands of different cameras originating from different manufacturers that, aside from taking producing quality photos, can actually do so much more-like recording video with sound and playing it back, or editing your photo.
The most important thing that you might really want to consider is how many mega pixels would be produced in every shot. For many these technicalities would not even matter when taking some memorable photos for those breath taking moments of life, but eventually would create a fuss if they require printing those photos. The only edge that the typical conventional camera has over today's modern camera would be its print quality.
Photographs taken through digital cameras tend to deter in quality. This is the point where the amount of pixels is most important. A 3 mega pixel camera would be just fine for taking quality photos. But if you are more considerate about the quality and clarity getting a camera with more pixels would definitely be worthwhile.
Another important role is played by the zoom lenses. You may see models saying 12x zoom, but it's actually 3x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom. You might be wondering what the difference really is. Optical zoom lenses are helpful in taking a more closer picture, while on the other hand digital zooms could be used to expand and focus on some chosen part of the picture. You might not get the full details of your image, but just a focused part on the whole.
Most digital cameras today tend to have LCD displays for having a more predictable shot along with the eyepiece. This enables you to take photos even when if you are not paying adequate attention, you might just get a shot by clicking without even looking at the details from the eyepiece. But before you take a shot this way make sure that your LCD portrays exactly the scene that it captures as many digital cameras do not really do that.
There are many extra features that add to the fascinating digicams, so get those models that have lots of them. These include, background, brightness, timers and other modes including night mode (for evening shots), sports mode (for shooting moving objects that require faster shutter speed), landscape (for shooting distant objects) and close range mode (for portraits).
